- The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), India, has asked the Facebook owned messaging platform to introduce a feature that would initially ask the user’s consent before getting added to any WhatsApp group.
- At present, any user can be added to a WhatsApp group without his or her permission.
- To ensure, security and privacy, WhatsApp had earlier introduced a feature where the administrator of the group had to store the user’s number in the contact list. And those user’s who left the group twice cannot be added by the admin again.
- However, this solution was not sufficient enough to resolve the issue.
